Parts of Speech
Parts of speech are labels that tell you what a word does in a sentence.
Nouns name people, places, things, or ideas.
Pronouns stand in for nouns.
Verbs show actions or states.
Adjectives describe nouns.
Adverbs describe verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs.
Prepositions link words to show location, time, or direction.
Conjunctions join words or sentences.
Interjections are short exclamations.
